Amazon Preparing For 30 Hour Prime Day Shopping Festival
Online shopping giant Amazon has announced that its mega online shopping festival ‘Prime Day’ which offers its customers thousands of lucrative deals will be on July 10. This will be the third annual ‘Prime Day’ event for Amazon and is scheduled to begin on July 10 at 6 p.m. PST and will go on till July 11.
During this 30-hour sale period, customers can expect thousands of attractive offers on a host of products. The shopping festival is open to those who are subscribed to Amazon’s Prime service. The company held its first Prime Day in 2015 to mark its 20th anniversary but its stupendous success encouraged Amazon to make it an annual affair.
The second Prime Day held last year outdid the inaugural edition with nearly a 50 percent jump in sales in the U.S. and 60 percent worldwide according to Amazon. Analysts estimate that the company sold close to $500 million in 2016. Amazon stated that due to the overwhelming positive response to its earlier events, this year’s event was even more ramped up in terms of the sale period and discounted offers.

In a statement Greg Greeley, vice president Amazon Prime said,
Every side of our business is working to deliver more deals for a record number of shoppers. We even decided that 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough time to shop all of the great deals — so we’re giving Prime members 30 hours to shop on Prime Day!
Additionally this year’s Prime Day will cover more countries than ever. Amazon stated that 13 countries will offer the festival, with Prime members of China and Mexico being able to shop for local deals and also for international ones via the Amazon Global Store. Although the company did not mention specifics regarding the deals likely to be offered, it has hinted that there will be exciting offers available on TV models. Amazon’ statement said that a record-volume of TV sets will be on sale during the period.
Offers will also be available for other Amazon services such as Amazon Music Unlimited, Prime Video, along with promotional offers on book or audiobook membership sales with respect to Kindle and Audible.
One of the new introductions this year will be Alexa-exclusive offers. Owners of Amazon’s home assistant Amazon Echo and other related gadgets will have access to exclusive voice shopping deals on various products. A report from eCommerce consultancy firm Radial has reported that the response to Prime Day has exceeded that of the peak holiday shopping season.
